Analysis of self-esteem and self-image based on beauty standards

The individual's perception of body self-image influences their well-being, self-esteem, physical and mental health quality life. This study aimed to analyze self-esteem based on beauty standards, carried out through field research, with a descriptive nature quantitative-qualitative approach, sample 128 participants, four instruments used collect data. data: sociodemographic questionnaire; Rosenberg's Self-Esteem Scale (1965) Hutz's (2000) adaptation for Brazil; questionnaire built eight questions about standards the silhouette scale Stunkard, Sorensen Schlusinger (1983). Through results obtained, it was found that most people follow pages social networks beauty, aesthetics, body, considering appearance as an indicator having self-demand comply standards.
